80th Bday cake

This cake was made out of town, with minimal supplies, in minimal space. This was for my husbands grandmothers 80th birthday party. The only request was that it be chocolate, with cream cheese frosting, and the colors be pastel. The flowers were done to represent Her, her 2 daughters, their 3 kids, and the 6 grandkids. It is 3 layers with chocolate frosting between layers.

Luau Birthday Cake

This is a cake for little Gianna who turns one this weekend. My pictures sure make my cake look bumpy, but in person it doesn't. I think I need a new camera - a good one! I did do the buttercream meringue on this cake thanks to Whisk Kid! The bottom layers (3) are chocolate, and the top 3 are yellow. I also did a smash cupcake for Giana.

How to make Homemade MM Fondant

How to make Homemade MM Fondant

This is the video that I used to make my marshmallow fondant. Get the gel colors by Wilton at Walmart (better price than at Michaels), use a toothpick to add it to the fondant - a little goes a long way.

Birthday Cake

This cake was done for Relay For Life. It was a cake to be presented to survivors. Little did I know, since it was my first event, that the ribbon color for survivors is purple. Oh well, they still ate it!

Easter Egg Birds Nest

To be honest, I didn't make these. My daughter made it in preschool, but it was so cute, I had to share it. Its just marshmallows melted with chinese noodles and some bubble gum eggs in the middle.

Alarm Clock Cake

This cake was made for my friend Karen who went back to work after a long absence. It's not that detailed, but it got the point across, and it was small, which was perfect for the 4 of us after dinner.

Cupcakes

The carrots were out of homemade marshmallow fondant for the carrot cake cupcakes, and the chocolate ones....those were funny. I generally use a box mix to make the cakes with, but make my own buttercream icing and fondant. I actually melted chocolate chips for this chocolate icing before I realized I could have used cocoa powder! But they were good!
I still haven't mastered meringue buttercream...the first time I used the "boxed" egg-whites-only because they were pasturized (worried about sickness) but found out that for that reason, they wouldn't stay up, and kept falling when adding the butter. If anyone has an easy one, pass it to me and I'll try it out!
